Author Clock 같은 기존 문학시계와 어떻게 다른가요?
기존 문학시계는 대부분 영어로, 영미 고전문학만 다룹니다. Author Clock처럼 하드웨어로 판매되는 유료 제품도 있습니다. '나의 시간이 예술이 된다'는 한국어로 읽히고, 소설뿐 아니라 한국고전·영화·드라마·음악까지 인용합니다. 별도 기기 없이 쓰던 아이폰과 아이패드에서 기본적인 시계 화면으로 바로 쓸 수 있습니다. 또한 위젯과 스탠바이 모드를 제공해 언제 어디서나 문학시계를 사용할 수 있습니다.

What is a literary clock?
A literary clock tells the time in words instead of hands — a line from a novel, a film, or a song that mentions the exact minute you're looking at. At 10:31 AM, for instance, you get the famous line from Back to the Future. Glancing at the clock turns into a small encounter with a work of art.
Are the quotes in English?
No — the quotes are in Korean. That's the point of the app: it draws on Korean fiction, classical Korean literature, film, drama, and K-pop, a body of work no other literary clock covers. The interface — menus, settings, widget options — is available in English, so getting around the app is straightforward — but every quote itself appears in Korean. It's built for people who read Korean, including learners who want a line of Korean on their home screen every minute of the day.
How is this different from Author Clock and other literary clocks?
Most literary clocks are English-only, drawing solely on English-language classics; some, like Author Clock, are paid hardware. My Time Became Art is in Korean, and it quotes classical Korean literature, film, drama, and music alongside novels. And it needs no extra device: on the iPhone and iPad you already own, the app itself works as a full-screen clock, and widgets and StandBy mode put the same clock wherever you need it.
How many quotes are there, and where do they come from?
Over 1,700, across three categories: novels; classical Korean literature; and film, drama & music. A different line appears for each of the day's 1,440 minutes, and you can choose to show only the categories you like. A few minutes are still waiting to be filled, and we're adding more as we go.
Which well-known works mention a specific time?
Like F. Scott Fitzgerald's essay The Crack-Up — “In a real dark night of the soul it is always three o'clock in the morning” — only lines that mention a specific time made the cut. Yi Kwang-su's novel Jaesaeng (Rebirth) at 5:30 PM, Robert Zemeckis's Back to the Future at 10:31 AM, Kim Eun-hee's drama Signal at 11:23 PM, BTS's Zero O'Clock at midnight, and more — the range runs from Korean classics to recent K-pop, and even in works you know well you'll find sentences you never noticed. Every line is shown with its source.
Does it support widgets and StandBy mode?
Home screen widgets, Lock screen widgets, and StandBy mode are all supported, on iPad as well as iPhone. StandBy mode requires iOS 17 or later — if you don't see it, check your iOS version.
Can I use my iPhone or iPad as a decorative display?
StandBy mode is made for exactly that. Set the device on a charger in landscape and the whole screen becomes a single line of text — a small framed print for a desk or a bedside table. On an iPad it's larger still, and because the line changes every minute, it never becomes the same image twice the way a framed print does. Pick a font and light or dark mode to suit the room.
Is it a good gift for someone who loves books or film?
Literary clocks are best known as a gift for readers, but most of them are expensive hardware covering English-language classics only. This is an app — nothing to ship, nothing to set up — and it covers Korean novels and classics alongside film, drama, and music. One thing worth knowing before you give it: the quotes are in Korean, so it suits someone who reads Korean.
Can it help me learn Korean?
Many people use it that way. Every minute puts one short line of Korean on your home or lock screen, always with its source, so you meet real sentences from novels, film, drama, and K-pop rather than textbook examples. It's not a structured course — there are no lessons, drills, or translations — but as ambient exposure to written Korean it's hard to beat, and the widget means you see it without ever opening the app.

Does it work offline?
Yes. Every quote is available without a connection, and no account is required.
What personal data do you collect?
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, or payment details. What we do collect is a device identifier, app usage data, and the information needed to sync your settings — and no account is required.
